Do you need to book?
It depends on the event. Some programme items are free with no ticket, some free performances distribute tickets shortly before the session, and the Aza Njeri workshop requires advance registration. Macacos is a paid ticketed event. Because capacity rules differ by venue, check the individual event page before travelling.
Why the festival matters in Porto
Quilombo_Trema! is built around exchange between Black, Afro-descendant, Indigenous and wider international communities. Its 2026 programme connects artists and audiences across several countries rather than treating multicultural culture as a single one-off showcase. That makes it especially relevant to Porto’s growing international population.
